EXTREME has canceled its appearance at this weekend's M3 Rock Festival after guitarist Nuno Bettencourt sustained a leg injury of some kind while taking part in a Rockers versus Average Joes basketball game aboard the Monsters Of Rock cruise on Tuesday, May 2. (Video of the incident can be seen below, courtesy of YouTube channel Jimmy Adcock).
The organizers of the M3 Rock Festival, which is scheduled to take place May 6 and May 7 at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland, have issued the following statement: "It breaks our heart to announce that due to Nuno's severe knee injury, EXTREME will be unable to perform at this year's M3 Rock Festival this weekend. Rest assured, Nuno is going to be ok and everyone attending the festival is going to have a great time. We are working diligently to book another stellar artist, and will make an announcement as soon as we have confirmation. We're looking forward to rocking out with you this weekend at Merriweather Post Pavilion."
EXTREME added in a separate statement: "We are seriously bummed out that we are unable to perform for everyone at the M3 Rock Festival as we've been looking forward to the festival for several months. We apologize for the inconvenience to fans attending the festival. We can't wait to come rock with you all on the Thicker Than Blood Tour this Summer."
